Fresh vs Frozen Eggs
When considering egg donation, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is whether to move forward with fresh or frozen eggs. Each option has unique benefits, and understanding the differences will help you choose the path that feels right for your family’s journey.
Cost:Â Typically higher due to the medical procedures and cycle coordination involved.
Availability:Â Requires coordination and syncing of the intended parent's cycle with the donor's; this may take more time.
Number of Eggs:Â Typically yields more eggs in one cycle, offering more embryos for use or storage.
Timing:Â Longer due to cycle synchronization between the intended parent and the donor.
Flexibility:Â Less flexible; you have to work within the donor's medical schedule.
Personalization:Â More involvement with the donor's donation; feels more tailored and unique.
Success Rates:Â May have slightly higher success rates due to fresh egg quality and ability to transfer multiple embryos.
Cost:Â Typically lower costs due to fewer eggs and no need for medical and cycle synchronization.
Availability:Â Eggs are already retrieved and frozen, so they are ready when you are.
Number of Eggs:Â Fewer eggs are usually thawed at once, which may limit the number of embryos. Frozen eggs are sold in batches called "cohorts".
Timing:Â Faster due to there being no need to wait for stimulation or retrieval.
Flexibility:Â Highly flexible; you choose when to begin treatment.
Personalization:Â More transactional; the donor is usually not involved beyond the retrieval process.
Success Rates:Â Research shows strong success rates, but fewer eggs may affect long-term embryo availability.

View & Select Donor from Database
First, you will need to register and view our egg donor database. If you want to continue with the process after viewing, you will need to fill out our Intended Parent Application. Once you have selected some donors, our staff can help you pick the donor that best matches what you are looking for!
Are you also needing a sperm donor in addition to an egg donor? You can learn more about finding a sperm here!
Choose Fertility Clinic
You may choose to remain with our trusted clinic and lab for the full journey—from retrieval through embryo transfer—or work with a fertility center of your own preference. If you select another clinic, our team will collaborate directly with their staff, ensuring they have all required details and equipment to safely receive the eggs. We’ll also coordinate with your third-party reproductive specialist to confirm everything is in place well before your embryo transfer.
Screening Evaluations
At Luxe, we seamlessly coordinate with your IVF clinic, mental health professionals, and genetic specialists to ensure every required screening is handled with care and precision.
Donor Egg Retrieval
Your donor will travel to your clinic of choice for the egg retrieval process. Once the fresh eggs are retrieved from the donor, they will then be immediately fertilized with the intended parent's sperm or a donor sperm.Â
If you chose frozen eggs from our database, we will have the frozen eggs shipped to your clinic where they will then be fertilized and ready for transfer.
Â
Transfer
Now that the eggs have developed into embryos, they are often biopsied for PGT-A testing to assess chromosomal health, then prepared for transfer to the intended parent or surrogate within a few days of retrieval. The eggs can be cryopreserved (frozen) for transfer at a later date.
Before your embryo transfer begins, your reproductive endocrinologist will guide you through all required screenings and tests to ensure everything is in place. Our team coordinates the secure transport of your chosen frozen eggs or fresh embryos, making sure they arrive safely and are prepared for the next stage of your parenthood journey.
Pregnancy
While every journey is unique, we remain optimistic that pregnancy will happen on the first try!

Types of Egg Donors
When beginning your journey with egg donation, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is the type of donor you feel most comfortable with. Each option—anonymous, limited, open, and known—offers different levels of connection, privacy, and future contact. Understanding these choices will help you select the path that aligns with your values, preferences, and long-term goals for your family.
Anonymous egg donation keeps the donor’s identity confidential, with no direct contact between the donor and intended parents. While personal details are not shared, parents typically receive important profile information such as medical history, physical traits, and education. This type of donation is most commonly arranged through egg banks and offers a straightforward, private option for building a family.
Benefits:
Maintains donor privacy and intended parents’ confidentiality
   Simple, straightforward process
   Typically lower legal complexity
Egg costs or donor compensation may be less
Considerations:
Child may not have the option to learn donor’s identity in the future
Limited personal information beyond health history and basic traits
No potential for ongoing relationship with the donor
