What to Expect When Becoming an Egg Donor with Luxe
What can you expect when becoming an egg donor?
Becoming an egg donor is a meaningful way to help hopeful families achieve their dreams of parenthood. The process includes steps like applying, completing medical and genetic screenings, and attending clinic appointments. Along the way, you’ll gain valuable health insights, receive generous compensation, and have the rewarding experience of making a lasting impact on someone’s life.
At Luxe IVF, our team actively supports egg donors with compassion, professionalism, and transparency at every stage of the journey. This guide outlines what you can expect when becoming an egg donor with our agency, so you can move forward feeling informed, confident, and supported.
The Egg Donor Process

While every clinic has its own approach, you can expect to follow these steps within our egg donor process:
Step 1: Submitting Your Egg Donor Application
The first step in becoming a Luxe IVF egg donor is assessing whether you meet our donor requirements. If you believe you qualify, you’ll submit our online egg donor application.
After reviewing your application, our team will reach out within a few days to schedule a personal phone call. During this conversation, we’ll cover:
- Eligibility requirements
- The full donation timeline
- Medical steps involved
- Compensation and meaningful rewards of donating
This call is also your opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and gain a clear understanding of what the experience will be like with Luxe IVF by your side.
Step 2: Consultation and Onboarding
Next, you’ll meet with one of our donation specialists to confirm your availability and walk through the process in detail. During onboarding, you’ll complete several important steps, including:
- Required paperwork and health questionnaires
- Background checks
- Providing photos and videos to build a strong donor profile
- Blood and urine testing to assess AMH levels
- Confirmation of negative drug and smoking status
Once results meet program standards, you’ll participate in a virtual consultation to review your medical history in detail.
Additional onboarding steps include signing an agreement with our egg bank and completing a counseling session to discuss the emotional and ethical aspects of egg donation. Throughout each milestone, our team remains closely involved to ensure you feel informed, comfortable, and supported.
Step 3: Matching with Intended Parent(s)
Once your donor profile is complete, intended parents may begin the matching process. After a confirmed match, donors usually begin the egg retrieval process within two to three months.
Frozen egg cohort donors move straight from onboarding to medical screenings, without the need to wait for a match.
Step 4: Medical Screenings
Luxe IVF coordinates all required medical, genetic, and psychological evaluations. During this stage, you can expect:
- Ultrasound and bloodwork at a fertility clinic
- Comprehensive medical evaluation
- Genetic carrier screening
- Infectious disease testing
When results arrive—usually within four weeks—our team reviews everything in detail. Once you meet all program criteria, we welcome you as a Luxe IVF egg donor and move you forward in the process.
Step 5: Preparation and Medication Cycle
As your donation cycle begins, your clinic will guide you step by step so you feel prepared and supported. During this phase:
- You’ll self-administer fertility medications for 10–12 days
- Medications stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs
- You’ll attend regular monitoring appointments for ultrasounds and bloodwork
These visits allow the medical team to closely track your response and ensure egg retrieval occurs safely and at the optimal time.
Step 6: Egg Retrieval

When the clinic determines the timing is right, the egg retrieval procedure takes place. This is:
- A simple outpatient procedure
- Performed under light anesthesia
- Typically completed in 10–20 minutes
After a short recovery period, you’ll be able to return home the same day. After retrieval, the clinic fertilizes the eggs for fresh IVF or cryopreserves them for future use by the intended parent(s). Your role in the IVF process concludes after retrieval.
Step 7: Compensation
Following a successful egg retrieval, our team will promptly process your compensation. Luxe IVF values donors’ time and generosity and provides fair, efficient compensation for every completed donation.
Step 8: Post-Retrieval Care and Recovery
After retrieval, you’ll receive personalized aftercare instructions to support your recovery. Most donors can expect:
- Return to normal activities within 24 hours
- Mild cramping or bloating for up to one week
- A recommendation for a few days of light rest
Our team remains available during this time to answer questions and check in on your well-being.
Egg Donor Requirements
Donor programs maintain strict standards to ensure safety and quality. While specifics can vary, we require donors to:
- Be between 19-29 years old
- Have a healthy BMI of 18-29
- Provide detailed medical, reproductive, genetic, and mental health histories
- Have no history of drug addiction or alcoholism
- Be tobacco, nicotine, and drug-free
- Be mentally and emotionally stable to handle the donation process
- Have flexibility and be able to make the medical appointments

Egg Donor Compensation
Luxe IVF provides compensation to donors for their time, dedication, and commitment.. Payment varies by individual attributes and qualifications. Added benefits beyond compensation are complimentary health screenings, physical exams, and genetic testing.
