SURROGATES

How much do surrogates get compensated?

Choosing to become a surrogate is an extraordinary and selfless decision, and it’s completely natural to want to understand how surrogate compensation works. While amounts may vary based on experience, location, and individual circumstances, having a clear understanding of what to expect helps you feel confident and valued throughout your journey.

Your compensation is designed to fairly recognize your time, dedication, and the incredible commitment you make—not the outcome of the pregnancy. You’ll also have independent legal representation to ensure every detail is clearly outlined and your rights are fully protected. These safeguards ensure the process remains ethical, transparent, and respectful for everyone involved.

At Luxe IVF, we deeply value the compassion and care our surrogates provide. Transparency is at the heart of what we do, and our team is here to guide you through every part of the compensation process so you feel supported, appreciated, and empowered from start to finish.

Types of Surrogacy Journeys

When you’re learning about surrogacy, it’s helpful to understand that every family’s journey can look a little different. Some intended parents may only need a surrogate, while others might also work with an egg or sperm donor—or even explore a dual surrogate arrangement. Knowing these different paths can help you better understand the options available and what kind of journey you might be part of as a surrogate.

Surrogacy Only

Some intended parents already have embryos created—whether using their own eggs and sperm or ones previously frozen—and are simply looking for the right surrogate to help them grow their family. These parents may be unable to carry a pregnancy due to medical reasons, past health issues, or may be same-sex couples ready to move forward with embryos they’ve prepared.

As a surrogate, this means you would be matched with intended parents who are ready to begin right away. Our agency coordinates with the IVF clinic, handles all logistics, and ensures you’re supported every step of the way—from matching to medical appointments and beyond. It’s a thoughtful, well-guided process designed to make your experience safe, rewarding, and full of purpose.

Surrogacy + Egg/Sperm Donor

When intended parents need an egg donor
Some intended parents need the help of an egg donor to create embryos before beginning their surrogacy journey. In these cases, the parents are matched with an egg donor—either through a fresh cycle or using frozen eggs. After the eggs are retrieved or thawed, their IVF clinic creates embryos in the lab. Once healthy embryos are ready, they’re frozen and later transferred to the surrogate’s uterus to begin the pregnancy.

When intended parents need a sperm donor
Other intended parents may need the help of a sperm donor to create embryos. Once sperm is secured from a qualified donor, the IVF clinic fertilizes either the intended mother’s or an egg donor’s eggs to form embryos. After the embryos are created and tested, one or two of the healthiest are transferred to the surrogate for pregnancy.

When both an egg and sperm donor are needed
In some cases, families may require the support of both an egg donor and a sperm donor before surrogacy begins. The intended parents carefully choose donors who reflect the qualities that are most meaningful to them, and once embryos are created, the surrogate helps bring their dream of parenthood to life.

BYOS (Bring Your Own Surrogate)

If you’ve been asked to be a surrogate for someone close to you—a friend, family member, or even an acquaintance—you’re stepping into a truly meaningful role. Known surrogacy can be an incredibly rewarding experience, allowing you to help someone you care about achieve their dream of parenthood in a deeply personal way.

Even when the intended parents are people you already know, having professional guidance can make a big difference. Many surrogates choose to work with an agency to help coordinate medical appointments, ensure fair legal protections for everyone involved, and provide emotional and logistical support throughout the journey.

At Luxe IVF, we’re here to make your experience smooth and supported from start to finish. Whether you and the intended parents prefer a little guidance or full-service management, our goal is to help you feel informed, protected, and cared for every step of the way.

Dual Journey

Some intended parents choose what’s called a Dual Journey, where two surrogates each carry a baby in separate, staggered pregnancies. This approach is often preferred over a twin pregnancy, as it can be safer and more comfortable for both surrogates and babies.

In these cases, families may use their own embryos or work with an egg or sperm donor, depending on their fertility needs. As a surrogate, you may be part of one of these journeys, helping intended parents expand their family while receiving full support and guidance throughout the process.

At Luxe IVF, our team ensures that every surrogate—whether part of a single or dual journey—feels informed, respected, and cared for at every step.
